Goaltender James Downie recently completed his first season playing junior hockey in the United States. During the 2019-20 season Downie played in the North American 3 Hockey League for the Louisiana Drillers and Sheridan Hawks, recording save percentages of 0.875 and 0.919 respectively. Prior to 2019-20 Downie has spent the last five seasons playing minor hockey in Canada and the United States, first in Canada from 2014 to 2017 and then shifting to the United States. He is also a member of the AIHL’s Melbourne Ice, joining the club in 2018 after playing three seasons with the Sydney Bears.
Downie is a former representative of the Australian under-18 team, playing in three World Championships from 2016 to 2018. In the national championships Downie has represented New South Wales on multiple occasions in the Ginsberg, DeFris and Tange tournaments.
