Australians overseas: Jakob Doornbos

Goaltender Jakob Doornbos recently completed his first season with the Windsor Aces of the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League. Appearing in twelve games for the Aces he finished with a save percentage of 0.886 and a 5.44 goals against average. Prior to moving to Windsor, Ontario Doornbos had spent the last two seasons playing in the Australian Junior Ice Hockey League, first in 2017-18 for the Sydney Wolf Pack and then for the Melbourne Glaciers in 2018-19. He is also a member of the AIHL’s CBR Brave where he has been a backup goaltender since 2018.

Doornbos is a former representative of the Australian under-18 team, playing in three World Championships from 2017 to 2019. In the national championships Doornbos has represented both the Australian Capital Territory and Queensland on multiple occasions, playing in the Ginsberg, Defris and Tange tournaments.
