Australia U20 defeat China

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have won their final game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division II Group B tournament, defeating China 8-2. Goaltender Alex Tetreault was named best Australian player of the match and Zachary Boyle was named best Australian player of the tournament. In other games of the day Romania defeated Spain 6-5 and Serbia shutout Belgium 9-0. Australia finish the tournament in fifth place, eleven points behind tournament winners Romania. Following their loss to Australia the Chinese are relegated to Division III for 2017 while the Romanian’s are promoted to Division II Group A.

Australia U20 lose to Serbia

The Australian men’s national under-20 team lost their fourth game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division II Group B tournament, losing to Serbia 0-10. Daniel Pataky was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Spain defeated Belgium 6-1 and Romania beat China 12-3. After the end of the fourth round Australia remain in fifth place, trailing the leaders Spain by twelve points. The teams now have a rest day and return to the ice on Saturday with Australia taking on China in their last game of the tournament.

Forward Lynden Lodge was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Spain defeated China 10-1 and Romania beat Serbia 5-4 in overtime. After the end of the third round Australia remain in fifth place, trailing the leaders Spain by nine points. Australia take on Serbia today in their fourth game of the tournament.

Australian U20 defeat HC DDM Ceske Budejovice U20

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have defeated HC DDM Ceske Budejovice U20 8-5 in an exhibition game in Lovosice, Czech Republic. The game is the second exhibition match of the teams training camp before the start of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division II Group B tournament in Novi Sad, Serbia which begins on 17 January. Kieren Webster was named the matches most valuable player after scoring a hat-trick of goals.

Australian U20 lose to HC Litomerice U20

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have lost their exhibition game 3-11 against HC Litomerice U20. The game is being held as part of the teams training camp in Litomerice, Czech Republic before the start of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division II Group B tournament in Novi Sad, Serbia which begins on 17 January. The Australian’s goals were scored by James Marino, Sam Hodic and Jake Knott, one in each period.

National under-20 team roster announced for 2016 U20 World Championships

The roster of the Australian national under-20 team has been announced for the upcoming 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division II Group B in Novi Sad, Serbia. The tournament will run from 17 January to 23 January 2016 and includes teams from Belgium, China, Romania, Serbia and Spain. The team is expected to leave Australia on 8 January for a training camp in Litomerice, Czech Republic.
