Melbourne Ice
– Goaltender Dayne Davis will not return to the club for the 2018 season due to business and family commitments. Davis joined the Ice for the 2017 season after two seasons with the North Stars. He finished the regular season with a save percentage of 0.907 from 22 games and the playoffs with a save percentage of 0.940 from two games.

North Stars sign Smart, drop Davis

The Newcastle North Stars have announced the signing of goaltender Charlie Smart for the upcoming 2017 season. Smart spent last season playing for the Sydney Ice Dogs and has been playing for the Bozeman Icedogs of the North American 3 Hockey League in the offseason. The signing of Smart comes after last seasons starting goaltender Dayne Davis declined to re-sign citing interest from other clubs. Smart joins Nicholas Mizen on the roster. Mizen played five games last season for the North Stars and has been playing for the Steele County Blades of the United States Premier Hockey League’s Elite Division during the offseason. Newcastle North Stars
The Newcastle North Stars have announced their 2015 player awards today as follows:

Perth Thunder
Toni Kluuskeri has signed with Narvik Hockey of the Norwegian First Division for the upcoming 2015-16 season. The season will be Kluuskeri’s first in Norway, having previously played in France, Sweden and his native Finland.

Sydney Bears
Joseph Harcharik has signed with Sollentuna HC of the Swedish Hockeyettan for the upcoming 2015-16 season. The season will be Harcharik’s first in Sweden, having come to the Bears from Orlik Opole of the Polska Liga Hokejowa.

North Stars announce 2015 imports

The Newcastle North Stars have announced their imports for the upcoming 2015 season.

The four new imports join American John Kennedy who will start his third season with the North Stars and is expecting to gain an Australian permanent residency in the coming months. Davis, like Kennedy is also working towards his permanent residency.
