Australian Women beat Mexico

The Australian women’s team have won their second game of the 2015 IIHF Women’s World Championship Division II Group B tournament, defeating Mexico 3-1. Shona Green was named best Australian player of the match, her second best player award of the tournament. In other games of the day Slovenia defeated Iceland 7-2 and Spain beat Belgium 3-0. After the end of round four Australia remain in fifth place and are three points behind leaders Slovenia. Australia take on Slovenia today in the final game of the tournament.

Iceland defeat Australian Women

The Australian women’s team have lost their second game of the 2015 IIHF Women’s World Championship Division II Group B tournament, losing to Iceland 0-3. Shona Green was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Mexico defeated Belgium 5-0 and Slovenia beat Spain 3-1. After the end of round two Australia remain in fifth place in the standings and are six points behind leaders Slovenia. The teams return to competition tomorrow following todays rest day with Australia taking on Belgium.

Australian Women are Relegated to Division II Group B

The Australian Women’s team have lost their final game of the 2014 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament, losing to South Korea 1-2. Sari Lehmann was named best Australian player of the game and Shona Green was selected by the coaches as best Australian player of the tournament. Following the loss Australia finished the tournament in last place, one point off fifth place New Zealand. The team is now relegated to Division II Group B for the 2015 IIHF World Championships, while hosts Italy finished the tournament in first place and earned promotion to Division I Group B. In other games of the day New Zealand defeated Poland 4-3 and Italy beat Great Britain 1-0 in a shootout.

Australian Women Lose to Great Britain

The Australian Women’s team have lost their opening game of the 2014 IIHF Women’s World Championship Division II Group A tournament going down to Great Britain 2-6. Shona Green was named best Australian player of the game. After suffering the largest loss of the day Australia was placed last in the standings, equal on points with Poland. Australia now face the hosts Italy in their second game of the tournament. In other games of the day South Korea defeated New Zealand 2-1 after a shootout and Italy beat Poland 5-2.
