The Australian men’s national under-18 team have defeated SK Kadan U18 in an exhibition game, winning 6-5. The game is being held as part of the teams pre-World Championship training camp in the Czech Republic. The Australian’s led throughout the game extending their 2-0 lead from the first period to a 5-1 lead at the end of the second. SK Kadan came back in the third period with four power play goals to the Australian’s one goal, with the game ending 6-5 to give head coach Steven Lindsay his first training camp victory.
Ice Hockey Australia (IHA) have announced that they will be holding tryouts for the national under-18 team in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney. The Perth tryout is to be held on 12 October at the Xtreme Ice Arena, the Melbourne event on 18 October at the Medibank Icehouse, and the Sydney tryout on 19 October at the Liverpool Catholic Club Ice Rink. Steven Lindsay has been appointed head coach for the third year in a row. The tryouts are being held in preperation for the 2015 IIHF U18 World Championships that will see Australia travel to Serbia to compete in the Division II Group B tournament against Belgium, China, Romania, Serbia and Spain.
