Canberra secure venue

The Canberra Times have announced that the Canberra consortium has secured a deal with the owner of the Phillip Swimming and Ice Skating Centre to play their home games at the venue. The deal, which also covers ice time for training, has been signed for one year with an option for 2015. The team will now speak with the AIHL tonight to determine whether they have met the conditions set out in order to be granted a license.

The team have announced that if successul they will compete under a new name. Knights owner John Raut who had offered the the use of the name for a fee has said that the name may become available in the future. He has also suggested that the Canberra Knights brand might be revived in the East Coast Super League, a junior league run by the New South Wales Ice Hockey Association.
