Australian Women withdrawn from World Championships

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has announced that Ice Hockey Australia has withdrawn the Australia national women’s team from the upcoming 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championships. Australia was set to compete in the Division II Group B tournament in Ankara, Turkey from 29 February to 6 March. The withdrawal means Australia will be relegated to the Division II Group B Qualification tournament for 2017. It is currently unknown why the team was withdrawn with Ice Hockey Australia yet to make an announcement.
