The Australian women’s national under-18 team have lost their third game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I Qualification tournament, losing to Great Britain 2-3. Kate Tihema was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day China defeated Romania 9-3, Italy beat Poland 4-2 and Austria shutout Kazakhstan 5-0. Australia finishes last in Group B at the end of the preliminary round, nine points behind group winners Italy, while Group A was won by Austria. The teams now move into the playoff round with Australia taking on Romania for a seventh place classification.
