2018 U20 World Championships: Australia beat Iceland

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have won their opening game of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III tournament, beating Iceland 2-1 in overtime. Goaltender Alexandre Tetreault was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Israel defeated China 3-2 and Bulgaria beat New Zealand 5-3. Bulgaria lead the standings after the first round with Australia sitting in third place. Australia takes on New Zealand today for their second game of the tournament. The last time these two teams met was at the 2010 Division III World Championship tournament where Australia won 5-1.
