The Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL) have announced the cancellation of the 2021-22 AWIHL season due to ongoing restrictions across the country. The decision was made following discussions with the clubs, Ice Hockey Australia and the state associations.
The league however have announced that they will hold two events in the lead up to the 2022-23 season. The first event, the Melbourne Invitational, will be held from 12 to 14 March 2022 at the O’Brien Icehouse and is open to any AWIHL club that is able to travel. The second, the AWIHL Pre-season Event, will be held from 11 to 13 June 2022 at the Adelaide Ice Arena and is expected to include all five clubs.
Update: Both the AWIHL Pre-season Event and the Melbourne Invitational have seemingly been cancelled for unknown reasons.
