The Brisbane Lightning have defeated the Melbourne Mustangs 6–1 in their exhibition game at Iceworld Boondall. The Lightning’s first goal in club history was scored by Eric Speedie. The Mustangs are back in action on 30 April when they travel to Newcastle to take on the Newcastle Northstars in the opening round of the 2022 AIHL season. The Lightning’s next game is on 14 May when they host the Sydney Ice Dogs at Iceworld Boondall.
