Day 24 of the 2022 Australian Ice Hockey League season has finished with the Newcastle Northstars defeating the Sydney Ice Dogs at the Macquarie Ice Rink. With their win the Northstars increase their lead at the top of the standings and are now four points ahead of the second placed Sydney Bears. Competition resumes tomorrow with the Bears hosting the CBR Brave at the Macquarie Ice Rink.
Today’s game also served as the 2022 Matt Clark Shield Game, a game which was originally contested from 1995 to 2001 by the Warringah Bombers. The match is dedicated to former Bombers player Matt Clark who passed away due to Leukaemia in 1995.
