2022 Men’s U20 World Championships: Australia defeats Turkey

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have defeated Turkey 8–1 in their third game of the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III tournament. Forward Easton Robitaille was named best Australian player of the match. In the other games of the day Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated South Africa 5–4 in overtime, Kyrgyzstan beat Chinese Taipei 3–1 and Israel defeated Mexico 3–2 in overtime. Australian finishes the preliminary round at the top of the Group B standings while Chinese Taipei tops Group A.

The teams have a rest day today and return on 27 July where the competition moves onto the quarterfinals. Australia is drawn against Kyrgyzstan which will be the first time these two teams have met. In the other quarterfinals Turkey will take on Mexico, Chinese Taipei plays South Africa and Israel comes up against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
