Australians overseas 2021-22: Sweden (part 1)

Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2021-22 season. Today is Part 1 of 2 featuring Australians in Sweden.

Max Åhlström: Third season with Bäcken HC. Primarily playing for the club’s under-20 team in the J20 Division 1 Åhlström recorded a 0.920 save percentage from 18 games in the regular season and a 0.913 save percentage from four games in the post season. He also played two games for the under-18 in the J18 Division 1, posting a 0.911 save percentage. Heading into 2023-23 Åhlström has re-signed with Bäcken HC to play for their under-20 team in the J20 Division 1.

Darcy Flanagan: Fifth season in Sweden. Flanagan returned for a second stint with Boro/Vetlanda HC in the HockeyTvåan where he recorded two points from twelve games. In November 2021 he was traded to Åseda IF of the HockeyTrean where he finished of the season, recording six points from ten games.

Felix Fuentes: First season in Sweden. Playing for Mjölby HC he competed in two games for their under-16 team in the U16 Division 1, scoring one goal, and in one game for their under-18 team in the J18 Division 1. Heading into 2022-23 Fuentes has re-signed to play for Mjölby HC’s under-18 team in the J18 Division 1.

Dmitri Kuleshov: First season in Sweden. Playing primarily for Viggbyholms IK’s under-18 team in the J18 Division 1 he recorded 42 points from 28 games. Kuleshov also made nine appearances for Viggbyholms IK’s senior team in the HockeyTvåan where he recorded four points.

Ivan Kuleshov: First season in Sweden. Playing for Viggbyholms IK Kuleshov split is time between the club’s under-16 team in the U16 Division 1 and their under-18 team in the J18 Division 1. In the U16 he recorded seven points from 13 games and in the J18 he played 22 games, scoring ten points.
