2022 Men’s U20 World Championships: Australia loses to Mexico in the semifinals

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have lost 2–3 to Mexico in their semifinal of the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III tournament. Defender Arthur Wang was named best Australian player of the match. In the other semifinal Chinese Taipei defeated Israel 6–5 in overtime and in the 7th–8th placement match Kyrgyzstan beat South Africa 4–3 in overtime.

Australia takes on Israel today for the bronze medal match. The two teams last met at the World Championships in 2018 where Australia lost 4–7. In the other two games that will be held today Chinese Taipei and Mexico play for gold and promotion to Division II Group B and Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey will play off for fifth place.
