AIHL Futures Program launched

The Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) have announced the creation of the AIHL Futures Program. The initiative aims to attract new players aged 4–14 and will see the AIHL sponsor a series junior come and try events via their clubs and participating ice rinks. The program is being run in partnership with Ice Hockey Australia (IHA) though further details are currently not available as to when the program will start.

Update (31 August 2022): After deleting the original announcement the AIHL have published a new and revised announcement

Update (6 December 2022): The first year of the program seems to have been adapted into the awarding of the AIHL Best and Fairest Award at the five National Championships.

    • They did? Even Ice Hockey Australia had shared the post. Maybe it was due to there being no sign up links on the Ice Hockey Australia website, AIHL jumping the gun?

      • I think you are right. I remember someone saying they could not find anything on the IHA website to signup so perhaps we will see a take two once IHA is ready.
