The Australia men’s national team have defeated New Zealand 4–0 in the opening game of the 2022 Trans-Tasman Ice Hockey Challenge at the O’Brien Icehouse. Australia took the lead in the second period with goals from Cameron Todd, Mike Giorgi and Mitchell Humphries. Strat Allen then extended their lead to four with a goal in third period. Competition resumes tomorrow for Game 2 of the three-game series.
