2023 Men’s U20 World Championships: Australia shuts out Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have defeated the Bosnia and Herzegovina men’s national under-20 team 10–0 in their third game of the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III tournament. Riley Langille finished the game with a hat-trick while the other seven goals were scored by Daniel Chen, Lachlan Clifford, Nicholas Doornbos, Luke Doyle, Dmitri Kuleshov, Noah Maley and Sacha Rapchuk. Luke Doyle’s and Sacha Rapchuk’s goals were also their first in international competition. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to forward Daniel Chen who was also given the hardest worker award by the team and Riley Langille was named the players’ player.

In the other games of the day Bulgaria shutout South Africa 5–0, Kyrgyzstan defeated New Zealand 3–1 and Israel beat Turkey 6–3. Australia finishes the preliminary round at the top of Group A while Israel finishes at the top of Group B. The competition now moves onto the quarterfinals where Australia will take on South Africa. The two teams last met at the World Championships in 2022 where Australia won 13–1.
