Ice Hockey Australia (IHA) have announced updates to the 2023 National Championships schedule. The update includes the bringing forward of the Women’s National Championship to April and confirmation of dates and locations for the Kurt Defris National Championship, the McCrae-Williamson Jamboree and the Phillip Ginsberg National Championship. The IHA are still working on securing locations for the Jim Brown National Championship, Para National Championship and the Sydney Tange National Championship.
The IHA also confirmed that the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) and the Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL) will sponsor two awards per tournament for the 2023 season. The AIHL, through their AIHL Futures program, will again be awarding the AIHL Best and Fairest Award at each tournament. The AWIHL’s Award of Excellence will be introduced for 2023 to recognise the best female individual talent.
