Day 17 of the 2022–23 Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with the Perth Inferno defeating the Adelaide Rush 4–1 at the Cockburn Ice Arena. With their win the Perth Inferno become the third team to qualify for the upcoming 2023 AWIHL playoffs. The standings remain unchanged with the Melbourne Ice in first, four points ahead of the second placed Sydney Sirens. Today’s game also served as the Perth Inferno’s Stick it to Cancer event to mark World Cancer Day. During the game the Perth Inferno wore their Cancer Awareness jerseys which are being auctioned off to support Cancer Council WA. The event ended up raising over $1,700 for the charity. Competition resumes on 5 February with the Perth Inferno hosting the Adelaide Rush at the Cockburn Ice Arena in the second game of their double header.
