Melbourne Mustangs announce five new signings

The Melbourne Mustangs have announced the signing of five new players for the 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League season.

Forward Artem Astafiev (IHV profile) joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Jets’ U18 and U15 teams in Ice Hockey Victoria’s 17U League and 14U League. With the U18 team Astafiev competed in ten games, recording 19 points, and with the U15 team he played one game, scoring five goals.

Defender Keenan Nelson (IHV profile) joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Jets’ U18 team in Ice Hockey Victoria’s 17U League. With the Jets Nelson competed in eleven games, scoring three goals and three assists.

Goaltender Thomas Papas (IHV profile) joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the iceHQ Ducks’ 17U and 14U teams and in Ice Hockey Victoria’s 17U League and 14U League. With the 17U team Papas competed in one game and recorded 0.976 save percentage and with their 14U team he competed in two games and recorded a save percentage of 0.840.

Forward Jett Porter (IHV profile) joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Docklands Ice Wolves’ 17U team in Ice Hockey Victoria’s 17U League. With the Ice Wolves Porter competed in seven games, scoring ten goals and six assists.

Forward Joe Zanlunghi (IHV profile) joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Jets’ U18 and U15 teams in Ice Hockey Victoria’s 17U League and 14U League. With the U18 team Zanlunghi competed in seven games, recorded two points, and with the U15 team he played in nine games, scoring 16 goals and seven assists.
