2023 Men’s World Championships: Australia loses to Georgia and finishes fourth

The Australian men’s national team have lost 2–3 to the Georgian men’s national team in their final game of the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A tournament in Madrid, Spain. Australia’s goals were scored by Mackenzie Caruana and Cameron Todd. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to defender John Kennedy.

In the other games of the day Israel defeated Iceland 7–3 and Spain beat Croatia 5–2. Australia finishes the tournament in fourth place with three points from five games and survives relegation due to the tie breaking rules. Spain finishes in first and earns promotion to Division I Group A for 2024 while Iceland comes in last and is relegated to Division II Group B for next season. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the tournament was given to defender John Kennedy.
