Amanda Blondin and Niamh Gallacher named alternate captains for the Melbourne Ducks

The Melbourne Ducks have named Amanda Blondin and Niamh Gallacher as their two alternate captains ahead of their 2023–24 Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL) Exhibition Series. Blondin joins the team after spending 2023 season playing for the Inferno in the Pro Winter League where she recorded an assist and six penalty minutes from five games. Gallacher is a former member of the Melbourne Ice having played eight games for the club during the 2019–20 AWIHL season. She is also a former representative of the Australian women’s under-18 national team, playing in three games at the 2020 World Championships. More recently Gallacher competed for the Reservoir Dogs in the 2023 Pro Winter League season, recording an assist from six games.

The Ducks’ Exhibition Series consists of six games which are being played as part of their bid to enter the AWIHL. The series gets underway on 20 October and 21 October with the Ducks taking on the Melbourne Ice at iceHQ.
