2024 Men’s U20 World Championships: Australia defeats Belgium

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have defeated the Belgium men’s national under-20 team 4–1 in their third game of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division II Group B tournament in Belgrade, Serbia. Riley Langille led the scoring for Australia with two goals, followed by Dmitri Kuleshov and Ivan Kuleshov with one each. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to goaltender Matus Trnka.

In the other games of the day Romania defeated Chinese Taipei 12–1 and Serbia beat Iceland 5–1. At the end of the third round Australia has moved up to third on the standings, pushing Iceland and Belgium down to fourth and fifth respectively. Romania meanwhile continues to lead the tournament with eight points, one point clear of the second placed Serbia. Australia takes on Romania today for their fourth game of the tournament. The two teams last met at the 2016 World Championships where Romania won 8–0.
