The Sydney Bears have announced the signing of Finnish forward Samuli Vainionpää for the upcoming 2024 Australian Ice Hockey League season. Vainionpää spent the 2023–24 season playing for KOOVEE in the Mestis where he recorded eight goals and 14 assists from 44 games. Between 2018 and 2024 he has spent four seasons playing in the Liiga, three in the Mestis, and a season in the Ligue Magnus. Vainionpää is also a former representative of the Finnish national under-20 team having played at the 2019 IIHF U20 World Championships and competed in a total of 19 games between 2018 and 2019.
