The Melbourne Ice have announced the signing of Canadian defenceman John Aonso for the upcoming 2024 Australian Ice Hockey League season. Aonso spent the 2023–24 season playing for SUNY-Fredonia in the NCAA’s Division III where he recorded five assists from 23 games. Between 2017 and 2024 he has spent four seasons playing in the NCAA’s Division III, two in the Ontario Junior Hockey League and one in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.
