Day 32 of the 2024 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with wins for Canberra Brave, Central Coast Rhinos, Newcastle Northstars, and Perth Thunder. In the Hellyer Conference, the Sydney Bears extend their lead at the top of the standings to seven points over the Melbourne Ice. In the Rurak Conference, the Newcastle Northstars remain at the top of the standings and the Central Coast Rhinos move from fifth to fourth, pushing the Adelaide Adrenaline down a place. The Sydney Bears also continue to lead the league’s combined standings with the Melbourne Ice in second and the Newcastle Northstars in third, following Perth Thunder’s three-point penalty. Competition resumes on 7 July with games Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth.
Today’s game between the Brisbane Lightning and Canberra Brave also served as the Lightning’s NAIDOC Week game which saw both clubs wearing themed jerseys. The Lighting’s jerseys featured artwork by Sandra Angus and are being auctioned off to raise funds for the Aboriginal Literacy Foundation and the Brave’s jerseys featured artwork by Budda Connors. The match between the Adelaide Adrenaline and Newcastle Northstars meanwhile served as the Adrenaline’s Canada Day game which saw them wearing a themed jersey.
