2025 Men’s U20 World Championships: Australia loses to Serbia

The Australian men’s national under-20 team have lost 1–5 to the Serbian men’s national under-20 team in their fourth game of the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division II Group B tournament in Belgrade, Serbia. Australia’s only goal of the game was scored by Finlay Gordon and as a result he was presented with the IIHF award for best Australian player of the match. The result is on par compared to the last meeting between the two teams in 2024, where Serbia won 4–0.

In the other games of the day, Iceland defeated Belgium 7–2 and Spain defeated Israel 7–3. At the end of the fourth round, Australia remains at the bottom of the standings and Spain continues to lead with twelve points. Serbia meanwhile moves up to second place and Iceland up to third, pushing Israel down to fourth. The teams have a rest day today and return on 25 January where Australia will take on Belgium in their final game of the competition. The two teams last met at the 2024 World Championships where Australia won 4–1.
