So Sydney still has hockey, why no Sydney teams in the AIHL this year ?
The Sydney Bears and Sydney Ice Dogs play out of Macquarie which is undergoing renovations in 2025. They weren’t able to get ice time at the other rinks due to the short notice from Macquarie. Ice Hockey NSW, including the ECSL, would already have had ice time booked in with the other rinks like Liverpool before the Macquarie news was announced.
Thanks for the info ! Didn’t know that.
Not good for the Sydney teams and league in general. Australia really needs to invest some serious $$$$$ in the sport.
