The Australian men’s under-18 national team have moved up a place to 33rd in the world rankings following the conclusion of the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championships, which ran from 28 February to 3 May 2025 across seven tournaments. The IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Asia and Oceania Cup, which is also factored into the rankings, was not held this year. In 2025, 45 countries and one region participated in the World Championships, with Canada claiming the gold medal in the Championship division. In the last ten years Australia’s best ranking as been 30th which they held in 2018 and their lowest was 35th in 2016.

The ranking is based on the performance of the last four World Championships and uses the same points system as the one used by the International Ice Hockey Federation for the senior men’s and women’s national teams. It also makes the same allowances for countries who have been unable to participate, like Belarus and Russia which are currently expelled from IIHF competition or Australia, China, Hong Kong, and New Zealand who were unable to travel in 2022.
