Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2024–25 season. Today features Part 5 of 11 of Australians in the United States.
Lucas Lian (Gamesheet profile): First season with Middlesex School and the East Coast Wizards after spending 2023–24 with the Hillside School and the Boston Imperials. Playing for Middlesex in the United States High School Preparatory system, Lian competed in ten games. With the East Coast Wizards, he played four games for their U15 Elite team in the Eastern Alliance Kickoff, recording two goals and one assist.
James McConnell (NAPHL profile): First season in the United States. Playing for Tahoe Prep Hockey Academy, McConnell competed in twelve North American Prospects Hockey League 16U Division games, recording two assists, and eleven Tier 1 Hockey Federation 16U Division games, recording another two assists. He was also part of the team which competed in the California Amateur Hockey Association system.
Hudson Mintern (Gamesheet profile): Second season in the United States with the Music City Marauders. Playing in 14U AA competition, Mintern scored nine goals and twelve assists from 53 games. He also competed in the 14U Division of the Elite Prospects Premium Tournament Tier II/AA, scoring a goal in four games.
Dexton Mozell (Neumann University profile): Fourth season with Neumann University. Playing in the NCAA’s Division III, Mozell recorded four goals and three assists from 27 games. He was also named on the 2024–25 honour rolls of the Eastern Athletic Communications Association and Middle Atlantic Conference.
Ruben Nalos: First season with the New Jersey 87’s after spending 2023–24 with Boston Hockey Academy. Playing in the Tier 1 Hockey Federation’s 16U Division, Nalos recorded 13 goals and 23 assists in 36 games. He also competed in the 16U Division of the Elite Prospects Cup Series, scoring five goals and three assists from eight games, and made two appearances for New Jersey in the Tier 1 Hockey Federation’s 18U Division.
