2026 Women’s World Championships: Australia loses to Chinese Taipei

The Australian women’s national team have lost 1–2 following a shootout to the Chinese Taipei women’s national team in their second game of the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group A tournament in Bled, Slovenia. Australia’s only goal of the game was scored by Phoebe Roberts. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to defender Matilda Pethrick.

At the end of day two, Australia remains in fourth place on the standings, while Poland continues to lead. Competition continues for Australia on 16 April when they take on Slovenia for their third game of the tournament. The two teams last met in an exhibition before the start of tournament where Australia won 6–5. Their last World Championship meeting was in 2019 where Australia lost 1–6.
