2019 Women’s Championships: Australia lose to North Korea

The Australian women’s national team have lost 2-4 to North Korea in their second game of the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group A tournament. In other games of the day Spain beat Mexico 2-0 and Slovenia defeated Great Britain 4-2. At the end of the second round Australia have dropped to last on the standings while Spain moves into first. Australia take on Slovenia today for their third game of the tournament. The last time these two teams met was at the 2018 World Championships Division II Group A tournament where Australia won 4-2.

2018 Women’s World Championships: Australia lose to North Korea

The Australian women’s national team have lost to North Korea in their fourth game of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group A tournament. Goaltender Ashleigh Brown was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day the Netherlands defeated Mexico 7-0 and Great Britain beat Slovenia 4-1. Australia remain in fifth place in the standings, nine points behind the leaders of the Netherlands. The teams have a rest day today before returning on Friday where Australia take on Slovenia in their final game of the tournament. The last time these two teams met was at the 2017 World Championship Division II Group A tournament where Australia lost 0-3.

2017 Women’s World Championship: Australia defeat North Korea

The Australian women’s national team have won their opening game of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group A tournament, defeating North Korea 2-1. Goaltender Michelle Coonan was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day the Netherlands defeated Great Britain 5-4 and South Korea beat Slovenia 5-1. At the end of the first round Australia sit in third place trailing the leader South Korea on goal difference. Australia take on Slovenia today in their second game of the tournament.
