Australia U18 get past Israel

The Australian under-18 team have won their third game of the 2014 IIHF U18 Championship Division III Group A tournament defeating Israel 3-2. Australia went into the first break with a 2-1 advantage thanks to goals to Hayden Sheard and Jamie Campbell. The team managed to hold that lead until the 55th minute when Israel scored the equaliser however Australia quickly took back the lead less than two minutes later with Kieren Webster scoring of an assist from Riley Major and Ryan Smith. Israel called a time-out in the last minute however opted not to pull their goaltender and the game finished 3-2 in Australia’s favour. Keiren Webster was named best Australian player for the game.

In the other games of the day Mexico defeated New Zealand and Chinese Taipei beat hosts Bulgaria. Australia is equal on points with Mexico and Bulgaria and are currently sitting in second place based on goal difference. Australia now face Mexico at in their fourth game of the tournament.
