The Australian Women’s team have lost their final game of the 2014 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament, losing to South Korea 1-2. Sari Lehmann was named best Australian player of the game and Shona Green was selected by the coaches as best Australian player of the tournament. Following the loss Australia finished the tournament in last place, one point off fifth place New Zealand. The team is now relegated to Division II Group B for the 2015 IIHF World Championships, while hosts Italy finished the tournament in first place and earned promotion to Division I Group B. In other games of the day New Zealand defeated Poland 4-3 and Italy beat Great Britain 1-0 in a shootout.
