Round 1 of the 2015-16 Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League has finished with wins for the Adelaide Adrenaline and Melbourne Ice. The Ice take the opening lead in the standings after winning both of their games in regular time. The Adrenaline sit two points of the Ice after being forced into a shootout for both of their wins against the Goannas. The AWIHL returns for Round 2 on 7 November with the Ice hosting the Goannas and the Adrenaline taking on the Sirens in Canterbury.
Prior to the start of the season the Sydney Sirens competed in an practice match against the Sydney Wolf Pack of the Australian Junior Ice Hockey League. The Sirens lost the game 2-7.
