The Australian men’s national under-20 team have won their final game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division II Group B tournament, defeating China 8-2. Goaltender Alexandre Tetreault was named best Australian player of the match and Zachary Boyle was named best Australian player of the tournament. In other games of the day Romania defeated Spain 6-5 and Serbia shutout Belgium 9-0. Australia finish the tournament in fifth place, eleven points behind tournament winners Romania. Following their loss to Australia the Chinese are relegated to Division III for 2017 while the Romanian’s are promoted to Division II Group A.
