2017 U18 World Championship: Australia defeats Spain

The Australian men’s national under-18 team have won their third game of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division II Group B tournament, defeating Spain 4–1. Goaltender James Downie was named best Australian player of the match after saving 29 of 30 shots on goal. In other games of the day the Netherlands defeated Belgium 5–2 and Serbia beat Iceland 4–2. After the end of the third round Australia move into first place on the standings, leading the Netherlands, Spain and Serbia by three points. The teams have rest day today before returning on Saturday where Australia take on the Netherlands.
