2019 World Championships: Australia loses to Belgium

The Australian men’s national team have lost 3-4 in overtime to Belgium in their opening game of the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A tournament. In other games of the day Spain beat China 5-3 and Serbia defeated Croatia 3-1. After the first round Australia sit fourth on the standings while Spain leads the competition. Australia takes on Serbia today for their second game of the tournament. The last time these two teams met was at the 2018 World Championships Division II Group A tournament where Australia won 5-4 in a shootout.
