2019 World Championships: Australia defeat Serbia

The Australian men’s national team have defeated Serbia 3-2 in their second game of the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A tournament. Rob Haselhurst was named best Australian player of the game. In other games of the day Spain beat Belgium 4-2 and Croatia defeated China 7-0. After the second round Australia have moved up into second on the standings while Spain continues to lead the competition. The teams have a rest day today and return on Friday where Australia will take on Spain for their third game of the tournament. The last time these two teams met was at the 2017 World Championships Division II Group A tournament where Australia won 5-3.

2018 World Championships: Australia beat China

The Australian men’s national team have beat Serbia 5-4 in a shootout in their fourth game of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A tournament. Forward Tommy Powell was named best Australian player of the game. In other games of the day China defeated Iceland 3-1 and the Netherlands beat Belgium 10-2. Australia remains second in the standings while the Netherlands lead with twelve points. Australia take on the Netherlands today for their final game of the tournament. The last time these two teams met was at the 2012 World Championship Division I Group B tournament where Australia lost 2-6.

2017 World Championships: Australia defeat Serbia

The Australian men’s national team won their opening game of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A tournament, defeating Serbia 4-3 in overtime. Goaltender Anthony Kimlin was named best Australian player of the match after stopping 41 of 44 shots on goal. In other games of the day the Iceland defeated Spain 3-2 and Romania beat Belgium 9-1. At the end of the first round Australia sit in third place, trailing the leader Romania by one point. Australia take on Iceland today in their second game of the tournament.

Australia defeat Serbia in shootout

The Australian national team have won their first game of the 2015 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament, defeating Serbia 4-3 in a shootout. Robert Malloy was named best Australian player of the match after scoring four points, including the game winning goal. In other games of the day Romania defeated Belgium 4-3 and Spain beat Iceland 4-2. After the end of round three Australia remain in last place, seven points behind leaders Romania. Australia take on Iceland today in their fourth game of the tournament.
