2020 Women’s World Championships: Australia wins gold

The Australian women’s national team have defeated New Zealand 7–1 in their final game of the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group B tournament. Forward Kate Tihema was named best Australian player of the match. Olivia Last led the tournament with a save percentage of 95.52 and was named best goaltender by the directorate. Rylie Padjen was named best defenceman of the tournament. In other games of the day Turkey defeated Croatia 5–2 and Iceland beat Ukraine 7–0. Australia finishes the tournament in first place and earn promotion back to Division II Group A for 2021. Ukraine meanwhile finishes in last place and is relegated to Division III.
