The Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) have announced the cancellation of the 2020 AIHL season following a recent meeting of their Return to Play committee. Ongoing travel restrictions were cited as the main factor.
The announcement comes nearly three weeks after the AIHL’s statement claiming that they were still hoping for some form of 2020 competition. That move itself was only made due to the Melbourne Mustangs appearing to announce the seasons cancellation way back on 8 July.
