The Sydney Ice Dogs have defeated the Newcastle Northstars 3-2 in overtime in Game 2 of the 2020 Hawkesbury Classic. The Ice Dogs held the lead for the first two periods with goals from Cameron Todd and Alec Stephenson before the Northstars levelled it in the third with two goals from Robert Malloy. Cameron Todd then scored in overtime for the Ice Dogs to win the game. The Ice Dogs now lead the series 2-0 with two games to play. Competition resumes on 15 August with Game 3 at the Macquarie Ice Rink.
