The Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) have released an update that includes information on various things going on with the league.
The first is the announcement of the current board of directors and division leaders. The board of directors is made up of Garry Doré, Peter Jon Hartshorne, Wayne Hellyer and Joyce Price, with Hartshorne acting as chairman. Christine Bertolotti is the leagues head of finance, Dawn Watt the leagues head of operations and Rob Duchemin head of referees and discipline.
The AIHL announced they plan to hold a series of exhibition games prior to the season launch in April and also during the season. No details however on which teams will be involved or when the games are planned have been released. The league is also planning on holding some exhibition games in regions that currently do not have an AIHL club.
The Adelaide Adrenaline have found a new licensee with Benny Gebert and Glen Foll taking on the team licence. The former holder, South Australian Ice Sports Federation, relinquished the licence back to the league at the end of the 2019 season.
The AIHL outlined its plans for future expansion. The current plan is to add a new team in 2023 and another for the 2025 season.
The league entered a new partnership with Synergy Sports to livestream games to Canada, Europe and the United States. Most games for 2022 are also expected to be streamed on Kayo Sports as well as AIHL.TV
