Melbourne Ice announce seven new signings and two re-signings

The Melbourne Ice have announced the signing of seven new players and two re-signings for the upcoming 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League season.

Forward Justin Dixon joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Ducks in the Pacific Hockey League. With the Ducks he recorded four goals and three assists from 13 games. More recently Dixon captained the Australian men’s under-20 national team at the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championships.

Goaltender Austin Lefkowicz joins the club after playing college and minor professional hockey in the United States. Between 2011 and 2016 Lefkowicz played four seasons with Syracuse University in the American Collegiate Hockey Association and a season in the Federal Hockey League playing for the Brewster Bulldogs and Danbury Titans.

Forward Yuga Kikuchi joins the club after playing college hockey in Japan. Between 2018 and 2020 he spent two seasons with Doshisha University in the All Japan Inter College Championship where he recorded 19 points from four games.

Forward Brody Lindal joins the club after spending the 2022–23 season with Burnaby Winter Club’s U18 Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s U18 Division. Lindal spent 2022 playing for the Melbourne Ducks of the Pacific Hockey League where he recorded five goals and three assists from nine games.

Forward Christian Pansino joins the club for his fourth season. During 2022 he competed in 16 games, scoring three goals and twelve assists. Since making his league debut in 2018 Pansino has competed in 43 AIHL games and recorded 16 points.

Forward Jake Riley joins the club after spending the 2022–23 season with Kurra Hockey Team in the II-divisioona and spent 2022 playing for the Adelaide Avalanche of the Pacific Hockey League. Riley has also previously played in the AIHL, competing in four seasons for the Adelaide Adrenaline between 2016 and 2019.

Defender Corey Stringer joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Ducks in the Pacific Hockey League. He has previously played in AIHL, competing in four seasons between 2015 and 2018 for the Melbourne Mustangs and Adelaide Adrenaline. In total Stringer has competed in 74 AIHL games and recorded 14 points.

Forward Hector Vrielynck joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Ducks in the Pacific Hockey League. Vrielynck previously spent time between 2014 and 2017 playing for Phenix de Reims in the FFHG’s Division 1 and Division 3 and with Gothiques d’Amiens in the Ligue Magnus.

Forward Josh Walt joins the club for his second season. Walt made his debut for the Ice in 2022 where he scored seven goals and ten assists from twenty games.
