Day 4 of the 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with wins for the Brisbane Lightning, Melbourne Mustangs and Sydney Bears. With their win the Brisbane Lightning extend their lead at the top of the Rurak Conference while the Sydney Bears win moves them into first place in the Hellyer Conference. The Sydney Bears also move into the lead on the league’s combined standings, edging out the Brisbane Lightning on win percentage. Competition resumes on 28 April with the Melbourne Mustangs hosting the Melbourne Ice at the O’Brien Icehouse.
Today’s match between the Melbourne Mustangs and Perth Thunder also served as the Mustangs’ ANZAC Day tribute. The event included the club auctioning off a couple of signed ANZAC themed jerseys with the proceeds going to the ANZAC Day appeal. The Melbourne Mustangs later announced that the auction managed to raise $1,000 for the appeal (update from 1 June 2023).
