Day 13 of the 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with wins for the Brisbane Lightning, CBR Brave, Newcastle Northstars and Sydney Bears. With their win the Sydney Bears extend their lead at the top of the Hellyer Conference while the Brisbane Lightning continue to lead the Rurak Conference. The Sydney Bears also remain at the top of the league’s combined standings with a one-point lead over the second placed Brisbane Lightning. Competition resumes tomorrow with the Melbourne Mustangs hosting the Sydney Bears at the O’Brien Icehouse and in exhibition play the Newcastle Northstars will take on Saint John’s University at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium.
Today’s game between the CBR Brave and Sydney Ice Dogs also served as the Defence Force Night, a tribute to the Australian Defence Force. As part of the event the Sydney Ice Dogs wore camouflage styled jerseys which were auctioned off before and during the game.
