Day 16 of the 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with wins for the Melbourne Ice, Melbourne Mustangs, Sydney Bears and Sydney Ice Dogs while the match between the Brisbane Lightning and Newcastle Northstars was postponed. The Sydney Bears and Brisbane Lightning remain at the top of the Hellyer Conference and Rurak Conference respectively. The Sydney Bears also remain at the top of the league’s combined standings, four points ahead of the second placed Melbourne Mustangs. Competition resumes tomorrow with games in Melbourne and Newcastle.
The match between the Melbourne Mustangs and Perth Thunder also served as the Melbourne Mustangs’ annual Pride Game. As part of the event the Melbourne Mustangs wore a special themed jersey which are being auctioned off to raise funds for Amnesty International Australia.
