2024 Men’s U18 World Championships: Australia loses to Spain

The Australian men’s national under-18 team have lost 1–7 to the Spanish men’s national under-18 team in their third game of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division II Group B tournament in Puigcerda, Spain. Australia’s only goal of the game was recorded by Bodie Jerome. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to defender and alternate captain Tyrone Oxlade.

In the other games of the day Bulgaria defeated Chinese Taipei 8–2 and China beat Israel 7–4. At the end of the third round Australia remains fourth on the standings and China continues to lead the tournament with nine points, one point clear of the second placed Bulgaria. Israel meanwhile moves up to fifth place, pushing Chinese Taipei down to sixth. Australia takes on Chinese Taipei today for their fourth game of the tournament. The two teams last met at the 2023 World Championships where Australia won 5–3.
